Tendinitis; Who Is At Risk Of Having It

Author: Mercy Maranga

Tendinitis is an inflammation or irritation of the tendon. A tendon is a thick cord that attaches the bone to the muscle. This condition is caused by repetitive minor impacts on the affected area or from a sudden serious injury. Some of the activities that can lead to this problem include gardening, carpentry, raking, scrubbing and skiing. An incorrect posture either at work or at home and poor stretching or conditioning before exercise can also put you at risk.

Although this condition commonly affects adults especially those aged over 40, it can also affect people who are younger. As the tendons age, they become less elastic and therefore easier to tear. Tendinitis can affect almost any part of the body where a tendon connects a bone to a muscle. Some of the commonly affected areas are the elbows, base of the thumb and the shoulders. Other areas include the hip, the knee and the achilles tendon.

One symptom of this problem is pain at the location and the surrounding area of the tendon. The pain could be a gradual buildup or sudden and severe. Another sign is loss of motion in the shoulder. You can overcome this condition by taking it slow. You should slowly build up your activity level. You can try to limit the force you apply when going about various activities. You should stop if you feel unusual pain.

Initial treatments for tendinitis include resting the injured part, avoiding activities that seem to worsen the problem as well as icing the affected area. If the condition does not improve after a week or so, it is advisable that you seek advanced treatment which may include corticosteroid injections, physical therapy or even surgery if the case is severe.

What's So Hard About Quitting Smoking? How Do I Make it Easier?

Author: Susan Roberts

Smoking has finally lost its (dubiously credited) charm, and now you want that stupid habit out of your life. On the other hand, you don't want to have to stop talking to your smoking buddies, and you don't want to have to go through the agony of withdrawal, so how can you quit smoking easily?

It doesn't have to be as hard as most people make it out to be. Most people that quit smoking go about it all backwards and, as a result, end up dealing with horrible cravings and withdrawals for months on end, until they give in and smoke a cigarette, starting the whole process all over again.

The problem is that they've never actually become non-smokers. You're going to bypass all of that nonsense and just cut cigarettes out of your life, because you're about to learn the key to quitting that nobody seems to know.

When you quit, you can't build up to it with quit dates and all of that. That just makes quitting seem even worse, which sets you up for failure. You also can't quit by throwing on nicotine patches, pills, or anything like that. That just makes you not feel that the nicotine is leaving your body, which isn't why you want cigarettes in the first place.

You want cigarettes because you're used to them. They're always there to help you out when you feel down, or need to celebrate. That all changes when you break your mental ties with cigarettes.

A Persistent Cough or Trouble Breathing May be due to Tar Lungs - Learn How to Correct the Problem

Author: Jo Mark

Are you suffering with a nagging smokers cough that won't go away? Have you been a smoker for 5, 10, or twenty years and find it difficult or impossible to give up the habit? Do you have difficulty to breathe deeply? If that is the case these are all signs of tar lungs. But have no fear; in this article you'll discover how to cure tar lungs simply and painlessly, in the comfort of your home.

Your lungs are extremely fragile organs. And if you have been a smoker for a number of years, you do damage to your lungs every day. One of the most hazardous chemicals in the cigarettes you smoke is tar. With each cigarette you smoke, you inhale some of this poisonous tar into your lungs. If you have done everything feasible to kick the smoking habit without any luck, and you've a nagging cough you have tar lungs and need to rinse this dangerous poison out your lungs.

Your lungs are covered with really fragile thin hair like cleaners, called cilia. Over a period of years, tar begins to build up and damages the cilia. In a smoker's lungs, many of the healthy cilia are damaged, so there are less healthy cilia remaining to keep your lungs clean. As a result, the remaining cilia can't clean out your lungs efficiently. When this occurs, your airways get clogged and you develop a cough.

If you have attempted every quit smoking technique imaginable yet still haven't been ready to quit smoking, there is an alternative available to you. This system will get rid of years worth of poisons fifteen to twenty times quicker than your body can do it naturally. But do not worry, it is not something that must be done by a doctor or in a hospital.

This system involves a secret combination of supplements, vitamins, and exercise that rinses the poisons out of your lungs in less than 1 year! You heard right, this new system can clean your lungs in less than one year vs the fifteen years it would take your lungs to do it naturally!

So, if you have been smoking for 5, 10, or twenty years or if you have a nagging smokers cough; start feeling better today with my new system called Clean Tar Lungs!

Will hemorrhoids go away on their own?

Author: Kenneth Elliott

As much as we would like it to be so, hemorrhoids do not go away on their own. They have to be treated, whether they are extremely painful or not. A specialized physician will be able to tell how bad the condition really is, prescribing a treatment that is efficient and allows for a faster recovery. The venous swelling at or inside the anal sphincter can also be treated with over-the-counter remedies but this is not recommended, as the most important thing is to treat what is actually causing the hemorrhoids to appear.

There are many things that contribute to the appearance of hemorrhoids, starting with obesity, constipation and pregnancy. Heavy lifting, sitting for prolonged periods of time and even vitamin deficiency have been known to be risks factors for hemorrhoids. By going to the doctor, one will be treated for the symptoms but also for the cause. There are many procedures out there performed for the treatment of hemorrhoids, including infrared coagulation and laser surgery, which deliver the best results. A more serious alternative is hemorrhoidectomy, which is the surgical procedure of tying up and removing hemorrhoids.

It is for the best that you do not sit around and wait for the hemorrhoids to disappear. Schedule an appointment with the doctor and allow the trained specialist to assess the severity of the case. If you have tried different home remedies and also followed the suggestions of a pharmacist but your condition hasn´t improved, then you absolutely have to see the doctor. The symptoms caused by hemorrhoids are extremely upsetting, starting with the awful pain, increased irritation and even bleeding. The area can also get infected, requiring a prescription of powerful antibiotics.

From what has been said so far, it is clear that hemorrhoids do not go away by themselves. They do require proper treatment and continuous care, symptomatic drugs being administered to reduce both the pain and discomfort felt. There are topical treatments available, such as creams and gels. A very interesting and effective procedure is hemorrhoid banding or rubber band ligation, a procedure in which the doctor ties a rubber band around the hemorrhoids. Last but not least, there is always the possibility of cutting the blood supply to the hemorrhoid tissue and wait for it to fall off (sclerotherapy).

If you are interested in what you can do yourself, then you should start by applying ice to the area, the result being a decrease of the swelling and discomfort. Use a special cushion to sit on, choose toilet paper that is soft and avoid those that are scented (they tend to make the condition even worse). Refrain from heavy lifting, keep a strict diet that includes lots of fiber and drink as much water as you can. Never allow yourself to gain too much weight, as obesity is one of the major factors that cause hemorrhoids to appear, since the rectal veins receive a lot of pressure from the excessive weight. If you follow these tips and take the treatment prescribed, you will soon forget that you ever had hemorrhoids.

Typical Symptoms of Diabetes

Diabetes mellitus or diabetes is a metabolism disorder taking place due to a combination of environmental and hereditary reasons. And the result of it is unusually high levels of sugar in the blood. The blood sugar levels in our bodies are balanced by an interaction of multiple chemicals and hormones, including the insulin hormone, which found in the pancreas. As a result of some defect in the action of insulin or problem in insulin secretion the blood sugar level increases. Hyperglycemia occurs that leads to the acute signs of diabetes like too much urine production, thirst and increased fluid intake, blurred vision, mysterious weight loss, lethargy and changes in energy metabolism.

The symptoms of diabetes occur gradually and are hard to identify initially. These may include a sick feeling, fatigue, excessive thirst and frequent urination, especially at night. Since the body has extra glucose in the blood, it tries to get rid of it through urine. This fluid loss leads to a feeling of thirst. Among the other symptoms are blurred vision, sudden weight loss, genital itching and slow healing of gum, skin and urinary tract infections. Since blood sugar is not something that one can see, the side effects are the signs that are considered by the doctors. Seeing the symptoms, the blood sugar level of the body is tested and accordingly, diabetes is diagnosed.

Doctors often suspect diabetes if the patient develops certain health problems that are related to diabetes. Heart disease, changes in vision, numbness in the feet and legs or slow-healing sores prompt a doctor to check for diabetes. These symptoms do not necessarily mean diabetes but anyone having any of these problems needs to consult a doctor as a preventive measure. Once the diabetes gets treated, the symptoms diminish.

Polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (excessive thirst) and polyphagia (hunger and weight loss) are the classic symptoms of diabetes. A dry mouth, aches and pains, fatigue, unusual infections, blurred vision, dry skin and slow healing of wounds are the other signs. But one needs to remember that not everybody will show all of these symptoms. It is better to test one's blood sugar level if any one of these symptoms occurs. Sometimes, there can be absolutely no symptoms and yet, one can have diabetes.

In diabetes type 1, the pancreas stops producing insulin due to some viral attack or autoimmune response. In the absence of insulin, body cells don't get the required amount of glucose for producing Adenosin Triphosphate or ATP units. This results in the symptom of nausea and vomiting. Gradually, the body starts breaking down the muscle tissue and fat for producing energy leading to weight loss. Due to electrolyte disturbance dehydration can also occur. Advanced stages of diabetes can lead to coma and death.
American Diabetes Association Complete Guide to Diabetes

In case of diabetes type 2, the body builds up a resistance to insulin. Due to the failure of the cells to metabolise glucose, fat deposited in the body is metabolised to gain energy. The body undergoes negative calorie effect and feels fatigue. When the glucose concentration in the blood rise, the brain receives signal for diluting it. Hyperosmolar hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome results as body fluid is pulled out of tissues together with eye lenses.

Nodular Cystic Acne Cure - Mine is Gone and Yours Can Be Too

Author: Audrey Malone

Having nodular or cystic acne can be depressing because it can eat away at your self esteem and cause you to feel embarrassed and ugly. It is also painful both physically and mentally. But there is hope.

What is Nodular or Cystic Acne?

Both nodular and cystic acne is acne underneath the skin, but they are somewhat different from each other.

Nodular acne is characterized by inflamed lesions beneath the skin and is a severe form of acne vulgaris. You can have nodular acne along with regular pimples but they are much bigger, tender and painful. Nodular acne looks and feels like hard swollen papules (bumps) underneath the surface of the skin.

Cystic acne is characterized by sac-like lesions that have liquid in them. This liquid contains dead skin cells, white blood cells and bacteria. Cystic acne looks and feels like big pustules (pus-filled bumps) underneath the skin's surface. You can also have cystic acne along with regular pimples and they are very painful because they are inflamed.

Nodules and cysts often occur together. This is called nodulocystic acne. This is a very severe form of acne that is very often resistant to many types of treatment, including prescribed medication like Isotretinoin, Accutane or Ro-Accutane, which have extremely serious and even dangerous side effects.

How Can You Cure Nodular or Cystic Acne?

There are steps you can take to cure your nodulocystic acne condition. This is not something you have to live with for the rest of your life. Some of the most important things that you need to do are:

  • Do not squeeze or attempt to pop the lesions
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Bathe the lesions with warm compresses
  • Follow an effective treatment

I'm Audrey and I had nodulocystic acne and after trying a number of things that did not work, I found a way to cure it myself and now my face has been clear for over 5 years. You can cure your nodular or cystic acne too with the treatment regimen I used by visiting: http://AcneControlTreatment.com/site - you don't have to suffer anymore.

Probably the worst thing about a yeast infection is the near nonstop painful itching. But, the good news is that there are safe and natural remedies that provide immediate yeast itch relief. Try the following treatments and see what you think.
Chickweed Ointment
You cannot go wrong in reaching for this ointment before anything else when looking for relief from yeast infections. This ointment won’t kill the yeast causing your itchy infection, but nothing works any better for providing relief. Apply this ointment two to three times a day for best results.
Yogurt Popsicles
This method also works remarkably well for your painful itching. Just fill a popsicle tray with yogurt and freeze it for a couple of hours. After that, take the popsicles out and insert directly into the vagina. In addition to the relief from itching, the beneficial bacteria contained in the yogurt kill the yeast on contact and reduce the swelling.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera gel is a first rate treatment for any kind of burning or itching. Just make sure you use a brand that is at least 99% pure and free of chemicals. Apply this a couple times a day and you’ll experience significant relief.
Honey
Honey is a great symptom reliever, but you need to be careful with this. It should only be applied topically to the affected areas and then carefully and thoroughly removed. Yeast feeds on sugar, so you need to be extra careful than none of the honey gets inside the vagina.
While these methods will work great in relieving yeast infections symptoms, they are still but a part of the overall cure. Knowing how to put all the pieces together is what will lead to a permanent cure. You need to identify the underlying cause of what keeps allowing the yeast infections to return. Once this is done, you’ll incorporate the right natural remedies for your situation to arrive at this cure. The best resource to put all the pieces together is referenced below.
